Clearing and managing your Telegram cache is a great way to free up storage space and improve the app's performance. Since Telegram stores temporary copies of photos, videos, and files you've viewed, the cache can grow quite large over time. The good news is that clearing it won't delete your chats or the media itself, as everything is stored in the Telegram cloud.

Here's how to do it on different devices:

On Android
Open the Telegram app.

Tap the three horizontal lines (the "hamburger menu") in the top-left corner.

Go to Settings.

Select Data and Storage.

Tap on Storage Usage.

You'll see a breakdown of how much space is being used. Tap on Clear Cache.

A dialog box will appear, allowing you to choose which types of media (photos, videos, files, etc.) you want to clear.

Tap Clear Cache to confirm.

On iPhone
Open the Telegram app.

Tap on Settings in the bottom-right corner.

Go to Data and Storage.

Select Storage Usage.

Similar to the Android version, you'll see a detailed breakdown of your cache. Tap on Clear Telegram Cache.

You can then select which types of media you want to delete from the cache.

Tap Clear Cache to finish.

On PC (Desktop App)
Open the Telegram desktop application.

Click the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner to open the menu.

Go to Settings.

Select Advanced.

Under the "Data and Storage" section, click on Manage local storage.

You will be presented with a detailed list of what's in your cache, with options to clear specific types of media (images, videos, files) or to Clear all at once.

Click Clear All (or choose specific categories) to remove the cached files.

Managing Your Cache Automatically
One of the best features of Telegram is the ability to manage your cache settings so you don't have to clear it manually.

In the Storage Usage menu on all devices, you'll find an option called Keep Media.

This setting allows you to automatically delete unused media from your device after a specified period (e.g., 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, or forever).

By setting this to a shorter time frame, you can prevent the cache from growing too large in the first place, saving you from having to clear it manually. You can also set a maximum cache size.

The media will still be in the cloud, so it will instantly re-download the moment you access it again.
